Newt Gingrich appeared on Fox & Friends this morning, offering up his singular take on how to solve the school shooting crisis that is currently plaguing the country.
His fix? Arm the underpaid and overworked teachers.
“I think the only long-term solution, depending on the size of the school, is a minimum of six to eight teachers and administrators who are trained in the use of firearms and have conceal carry permits and are prepared to defend the kids,” he said.
He added, “Every school in the country is supposed to be a gun-free zone. If gun control worked, how come it didn’t work?”
The former politician also did not take the time to play out a scenario in which a bedraggled, tired teacher with a concealed pistol squares off against an attacker with an AR-15.
