Fox Nation Interprets Today’s News As ‘Obama Flip Flops, Declares War On Marriage’ (UPDATE)
In recent months, I’ve had the same conversation with some of my more liberal friends over and over again. When discussing the latest offense caused by Rush Limbaugh. At some point, I let it slip that I kind of love the guy and my friends stand back aghast. I helpfully explain that, sure, Limbaugh says awful things nearly every day, but he clearly finds so much absolute joy in pissing people off, that I have a hard time really getting mad at him. I mean, after nearly every vaguely sexist or racially suspect comment, you can literally hear the guy laughing as he imagines what the liberal blogs will say. So, keeping with that spirit, I have to give the good folks at Fox Nation credit for writing one of the most wonderfully awful headlines of all time.
Fox News’ Eric Shawn Talks To Mediaite About His Career, The United Nations And Rampant Voter Fraud
Eric Shawn, veteran Fox News reporter, sat down with Mediaite to discuss his career in journalism and his current focus on election and voter fraud.
Shep Smith On President’s Gay Marriage Stance: Obama Is ‘Now In The 21st Century’
Following the breaking news that President Obama told ABC’s Robin Roberts that he has completed his “evolution” on gay marriage, Fox News’ Shepard Smith made a clear endorsement of the president finally coming around to believe same-sex couples should be able to get married.
After playing the ABC tape of Obama’s conversation with Roberts, the Studio B anchor declared:
The president of the United States, now in the 21st century.
The Five’s Greg Gutfeld Defends David Axelrod Right To Call People ‘Contract Killers’
The Five was settling nicely into Outrage Mode today. Andrea Tantaros and Dana Perino were outraged that David Axelrod called the Koch Brothers “contract killers.” Bob Beckel was outraged that the Koch Brothers are such criminals. And Eric Bolling was outraged that Beckel was saying mean stuff about the Koch Brothers when this was supposed to be a segment of mean stuff about the Obama Administration. Everything was going nice and outrage-y until Greg Gutfeld came in and threw a big bucket of cold common sense on the proceedings.
Fox News’ Decision Not To Fire Jehmu Greene Angers The Right
As you may recall, on last Thursday’s edition of America Live, Fox News contributor Jehmu Greene called the Daily Caller co-founder Tucker Carlson a “bow-tying white boy” in response to Carlson’s criticism of Elizabeth Warren‘s qualifications. Many outraged conservatives have called upon Fox to fire Greene.
Fox News’ Eric Bolling Credits President Obama With Lowering Gas Prices!
Recently, I’ve done some reporting on an apparent correlation between President Obama‘s speech about oil speculators and a now-sixteen cent per gallon drop in gas prices. Eric Bolling, host of Fox News’ The Five and not the biggest fan of the Whizzite Hizzouse’s current occupant, shockingly has gone farther than I did, actually drawing a causal link between the President’s actions and the falling price of gas.
Fox’s Geraldo Rivera To Cable News: Stop Using The Phrase ‘Illegal Aliens’
In a column posted on Fox News Latino, Geraldo Rivera lambasts his cable news colleagues for their repeated use of the term “illegal aliens” when describing undocumented immigrants from Central America.
“Cable news and talk radio are making a killing demonizing undocumented immigrants,” he begins the column. “In terms of ratings, few issues resonate as reliably.”
Gas Prices Fall 14 Cents Per Gallon Since President Obama Announced Speculation Crackdown
On Friday, we reported that gas prices had tumbled from an early-April peak of $3.93 per gallon to a $3.80 per gallon national average. Since then, the national average has fallen another few cents, but the media who happily bantered about the political consequences of rising gas prices on President Obama‘s reelection prospects have, thus far, remained silent about this drop, which coincides exactly with the President’s remarks about reining in oil speculators.
NY Times’ Bill Keller: ‘Fox News Is Murdoch’s Most Toxic Legacy’
Rupert Murdoch has not exactly gotten the best press lately. Since last summer, he has been embroiled in scandal over phone hacking that took place at newspapers owned by News Corporation. He appeared before a Parliament committee and a grand inquiry to testify about the malfeasance. But what of Fox News? Well, Bill Keller‘s newest column for The New York Times argues that the cable news channel is Murdoch’s “most toxic legacy” and that its slogan “fair and balanced” is just for “suckers.”
Laura Ingraham Compares Obama To Ryan Seacrest, Presidency To ‘A Reality Show’
The Republican War on Cool continues. Despite the fact that this is a Republican Party who worship at the alter of a president who was LITERALLY A MOVIE STAR, actors are now the enemy. Hell, I wouldn’t be surprised to see a Republican Senator start devising a Hollywood blacklist for “Cool People Sympathizers.”
For the latest instance of this celebrity shaming, check out Laura Ingraham’s segment on last night’s O’Reilly Factor.
Colombian Prostitute Gives Video Interview, Regrets Calling Police On Secret Service Agent
Dania Suarez, the Colombian prostitute in the center of the scandal that had encircled the Secret Service for the past month, has finally spoken out. She gave an interview that was broadcast on Colombian radio and television. In it she said that she saw documents in the agent’s room but that none of them referenced President Obama. She knows this because, had she known the agent was connected to the Secret Service, she never would have called the police when he didn’t pay her the next morning as the ensuing international incident has “brought a lot of trouble into [her] life.”
Juan Williams Misses Working For NPR ‘Big Time’
At a New York City event Thursday night, FOX News analyst and in-house liberal Juan Williams confessed that he misses working for NPR “big time.”
“Because that’s such an informed and influential audience,” he told Capital New York during the event.
Wait. Is he implying that his current employer’s audience are not informed? Probably not. So hold off on the speculation, people.
He continued on to explain that the public radio network’s “audience really liked me and I would often times help raise money for NPR.”
Gas Prices Fall 12 Cents Per Gallon Since President Obama Announced Speculation Crackdown
The national media, especially Fox News, were quick to report that the sky was falling when Republicans tried to make rising gasoline prices a political liability for President Obama. The conversation dominated political news for weeks, as the national average gasoline price peaked at about $3.93 per gallon. Since President Obama “waved the tar baby” of oil speculation on April 17, though, gas prices have fallen from a national average of about $3.92 on April 16, to about $3.80 per gallon today, and are expected to plunge below $3.50 by July.
Al Qaeda Thought MSNBC ‘Neutral’ Until Keith Olbermann Firing
As we reported in March, Al Qaeda claimed that Fox News Channel was their least-favorite news outlet, for it “falls into the abyss … and lacks objectivity,” adding that they’d like to see the network “die in her anger.” I’m surprised Fox News hasn’t made promotional commercials based on the laudable distinction of being the terrorist organization’s most-hated network.
The Five’s Greg Gutfeld Battles His Co-Hosts Over Legalizing Marijuana
On Wednesday’s edition of The Five, Greg Gutfeld took on the rest of his co-panelists in a heated discussion over marijuana legalization. Co-host Bob Beckel introduced the segment, describing what he sees as frightening statistics:
[We have] an epidemic growing in America. One in ten teenagers now smoke marijuana at least 20 times a month. That was 19 percent of teens that used pot in 2008 and it’s now 27 percent as of 2011. [...] Let me just say this about marijuana [...] here is the problem: it is becoming so much more powerful a drug than it used to be because of cross-pollenization of it, because of medical marijuana, the use is everywhere.
Fox News Panel Debates Whether Obama Should Still Tweet About Being A Uniter
You learn a lot when you follow political news. For instance, yesterday after President Obama revealed a new campaign slogan, conservative pundits helpfully informed us that “forward” was secretly Joseph Stalin favorite direction to walk in! So, when Fox News’ Megyn Kelly promised a segment on tweet from the President that was “raising some eyebrows,” I naturally assumed we were going to find out that it was full of secret evil messages. However, weirdly enough, the message that the ensuing panel complained about was that President Obama wants the country to be united.
Huh. I guess that’s kind of evil?
Rachel Maddow On Conservative Media Model: “Everybody Else Is Out To Get You”
At a Commonwealth Club event in April, MSNBC host Rachel Maddow discussed why conservative media outlets are so much more successful than its liberal competitors.
Unlike her conservative competitors, Maddow explains, “I try not to imagine my audience being people who already agree with me. I, in fact, try to imagine a Republican audience.”
Surprise! Gawker’s ‘Fox News Mole’ Shops His Memoir
In today’s edition of News We All Predicted: Joe Muto, aka Gawker’s “Fox News Mole,” is shopping his memoir to book publishers. In what plays like an attempt to extend his 15-minutes-of-fame, the New York Observer reveals that his memoir is tentatively titled An Atheist in the Foxhole (credit due…that is clever) and will take a humorous Sedaris-like tone:
The Five Rises Above The Politics, Gives Thoughtful Commemoration Of Bin Laden’s Death
It looks like I owe an apology to the folks at The Five. After a long day of aggressive tweets about “spiking the football” from conservative bloggers, a Drudge Report headline that proudly accuses the President of “GLOATING IN AFGHANISTAN,” and reporters still asking Mitt Romney if he would have hypothetically killed Osama bin Laden in some kind of parallel universe where he was president, I expected more of the same from Fox News’ afternoon panel show. But, that’s not what I got. Instead, the show opened with a thoughtful and touching remembrance of that momentous day a yeah ago, a segment almost wholly devoid of the politics that seem to consume every waking second of an election year.
‘F**k You, Mitt Romney!’: GOP Candidate Heckled During New York Event
Today, on the anniversary of Osama bin Laden’s death, presumptive nominee Mitt Romney travelled to New York to commemorate the event. Shoring up his 9/11 credentials by bringing Rudy Giuliani along, Romney brought pizzas to Engine 24/ladder 5, a firehouse that lost 11 members on that fateful day. However, the photo op didn’t go perfectly. While Romney talked to the gathered press, thanking President Obama for taking bin Laden out but accusing him of politicizing the event, a protester began yelling, getting some choice words in while the live TV cameras were rolling.
The Dirtier Minds On The Five Lose It After Kimberly Guilfoyle’s Accidental ‘Sex’ Joke
I don’t have the mind of a 10 year old. I don’t find juvenile sex jokes funny. I do, however, have the mind of a 12 year old which is why I love watching people who do have the mind of a 10 year old laugh at juvenile sex jokes. Clearly I have more mature tastes. Anyway, that’s why I loved watching Martin Bashir‘s panel cracking up over Vice President Biden’s “big stick” comment and why I get great enjoyment in watching Bob Beckel try to contain his giggling after Kimberly Guilfoyle’s analysis of the John Edwards story seemed to contain (to those with the mind of a 10 year old) an allusion to oral sex.
O’Reilly Unamused By Doonesbury Comic That Says Watching Fox News Is Like Getting News From ‘Town Drunk’
Bill O’Reilly isn’t a fan of pop culture swipes at his network (as evidenced by his reaction to The Simpsons) In his “Pinheads & Patriots” segment on Thursday night, he singled out one particular Doonesbury comic. Today’s installment took a swipe at Fox News, equating it with getting news from the “town drunk.” Pinhead? “You bet.”
The Five‘s Andrea Tantaros: Attacking Obama For Being Cool Didn’t Work Before, Why Would It Work Now?
Yesterday, following President Obama’s late night slow jamming, Fox News’ The Five attempted to somehow morph into the underdogs in a bad teen movie, ripping Obama apart for being too cool. At the time, all of the conservative hosts agreed that being cool was bad and that star quarterback Obama didn’t deserve to be class president just because he’s dating a cheerleader.
Martin Bashir Slams O’Reilly, Fox News For Accusing NBC’s Andrea Mitchell Of Bias
On Thursday, Martin Bashir defended his colleague Andrea Mitchell from Fox News Channel host Bill O’Reilly who had accused Mitchell of liberal bias on his program. Bashir took O’Reilly to task for a flimsy attempt to tar Mitchell and he landed a punch when he responded to a challenge by O’Reilly to point out a Fox News political reporter who had ever crossed the line and exhibited bias. Bashir proved he was up to the challenge.
Red Eye’s Andy Levy Has The Most Accurate Take On Obama’s ‘Coolness’
Much has been made of President Obama‘s “coolness” since slow-jamming the news with Jimmy Fallon. To recap: several Fox News personalities were especially offended by the performance, calling it “nutso” and “awful.”
