Andrew Breitbart: Why Would GOP Candidates Go On MSNBC, But Turn Down Trump?

video

Appearing on Fox News’s Red Eye Friday morning, Andrew Breitbart chided the Republican presidential candidates, calling them hypocritical for refusing to attend Donald Trump‘s Newmax debate, but continuously appearing on MSNBC. “What’s so frustrating is the people who are saying no to Donald Trump are the people who say (yes) every single week to the MSNBCs of the world and are willing to sit there as Chris Matthews berates them, sets them up, and now they can’t stand Donald Trump when he is probably one of the only successful capitalists out there hailng the economy which is a capitalist economy. These people are taking the wrong stand at the wrong time. If these guys have any integrity they say no to MSNBC — but they go after the only capitalist out there.”

RELATED: Donald Trump: ‘Very Surprised’ That Mitt Romney Turned Down Debate Invitation

Host Greg Gutfeld thought that the candidates who acted the swiftest in deciding whether to attend Trump’s debate or not demonstrated who were the true leaders in the race. “You learn I think who the real leaders were by the people who first accepted and first rejected,” Gutfeld observed. “The first person who jumped in was Newt Gingrich, the first person who said no was Huntsman and then you saw Perry and Bachmann wait.”

Watch Breitbart’s condemnation of the candidates who refused but still go on MSNBC below via Fox News:

MSNBC is news, Trump is a self-promoter. Big difference.

  • Anonymous

Which of the Republican candidates actually go on MSNBC? Ron Paul? Gary Johnson? Buddy Roemer?

  • Anonymous

Agree with Breitbart…the candidates that turned down Trump are taking orders straight from the GOP establishment. The GOP establishment is what brought us Bush and McCain which brought us the worse President this Country has ever seen!!
The GOP is so brainwashed into thinking that only a rhino can win……evidently they are too stupid to understand the reason why Obama endured such a huge shellacking in 2010.

People are rejecting socialism and craving conservatism!!!

  • http://twitter.com/RealKrisHardy Kristopher Hardy

Unless your talking about Ron Paul, Gary Johnson or Buddy Roemer and the once in a life-time ridiculous interview with Herman Cain, NO ONE on the GOP goes on MSNBC. And Andrew, you know why they don’t want to go on Trump’s debate? Because they would look like bigger jokes than they already are, like you!

  • http://twitter.com/RealKrisHardy Kristopher Hardy

Is that way Republican Congressmen approval rating in September was at 19%? I mean I shouldn’t be complaining because Democrats is at 28%, but it still puts to rest your argument that people are craving conservatism.

How exactly is Trump Conservative?  Please, do you best to avoid personal attacks and explain how on Earth Trump is a Conservative who should be so respected that two days after Christmas the candidates should drop everything and debate for him.

  • Anonymous

    hmmm
now that is a tough one..
a crazed, con man conservative asks why a potential presidential candidate should speak to a ‘liberal’ populace? over 1/2 of the country?
    i guess that makes sense…

it is funny how conservatives are so afraid to face liberal media..but liberals face conservative hatchet jobs all of the time..
    funny the irony…

i just want to know why conservatives are such cowards…

  • Anonymous

You don’t much about history if you think Obama is the worst president ever. Let me guess you can’t even name all the presidents.

Go ahead nominate someone else than a rhino. Let’s see what happens.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_KSH52GTU7ATNOTCD52RAL3P6XA Jon

You’re having short-term memory loss — they all went on MSNBC on Sept. 7, which coincided with the start of Gingrich’s “Attack the debate moderator” strategy.

  • RW

Is it any worse than being questioned by George Stephanopoulos?

“Prior to joining ABC News, he was a senior political adviser to the 1992 U.S. presidential campaign of Bill Clinton and later became the White House Communications Director for two years” — wiki

Do you think George might have an agenda?

How many times do the Democrats participate in a Fox News debate?

  • http://twitter.com/runforfun54 Ilene K

Or, maybe, they see trump for the bigoted lying huckster he is. I’ll take socialism any day over the disgraceful bigoted pandering-to-the-wealthy Grand Obstructionist Party.

  • http://twitter.com/runforfun54 Ilene K

Oh my  … there you go, Kristopher, assuming facts mean anything to the RWNJs!

  • http://twitter.com/runforfun54 Ilene K

Hmmm, let’s see, wants “small” government (except of course if it comes to telling people whom to love or what a woman should do with her party), no taxes for the wealthy — kind of all the gop talking points.

    Trump on Healthcare:

“We must have universal healthcare,” wrote Trump. “I’m a conservative on
most issues but a liberal on this one. We should not hear so many
stories of families ruined by healthcare expenses.”Read more: http://articles.businessinsider.com/2011-04-18/politics/30061431_1_canadian-system-universal-healthcare-national-health-care#ixzz1g3Wyb8ELDonations to Candidates:The Democratic recipients of Trump’s donations make up what looks
like a Republican enemies list, including former senator Hillary Rodham
Clinton (N.Y.), Sen. John F. Kerry (Mass.), Rep. Charles B. Rangel
(N.Y.), Sen. Charles E. Schumer (N.Y.) and the late liberal lion Edward
    M. Kennedy (Mass.). The biggest recipient of all has been
the Democratic Senate Campaign Committee of New York, which has taken
in more than $125,000 from Trump and his companies. Overall, Trump has
given nearly $600,000 to New York state campaigns, with more than
    two-thirds going to Democrats.
    Trump on Abortion:

    He is Pro-Choice

    Trump on Foreign Policy:

Trump has even worked to discredit Republican foreign policy. In an interview on ABC he told George Stephanopolous:

    George,
let me explain something to you.  We go into Iraq.  We have spent thus
far, $1.5 trillion.  We could have rebuilt half of the United States.
$1.5 trillion.  And we’re going to then leave.  So, in the old days, you
know when you had a war, to the victor belong the spoils.  You go in.
You win the war and you take it.

An NBC/Politico debate is not the same thing.

They all seem to go on CNN & Fox (of course) for regular interviews, but point it out for us who don’t watch MSNBC often or at all when these Republican candidates have gone on that cable news channel.

  • Anonymous

I would guess that not 1 in 100 Americans can name all the presidents.

    Really?

What Breitbart doesn’t understand is that Trump is just as much a newsman as Breitbart is.  These morons truly can’t see outside of their own bubbles.

Girl, not even DoucheBart could sell that lie. Go on witcha bad self!!

Now now, Ilened I have to stop you right there. It’s the Get Obama Party. And they will listen to whatever DoucheBart has to say because he is a “conservative” which is short hand for “asshole”. Better?

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VK7U6RFTAUIPW2JR2NGPBP2IYA super

nobody watch’s MSNBC.   ALso unlike every other debate from ABC to fox they don’t attack all the candidates after the debate but MSNBC does just that.   the objective of the debate is to be seen my a large audience that would ultimately increase votes in November.  Now a trump debate with all the candidates would have a far larger audience then a MSNBC debate.

  • http://pulse.yahoo.com/_VK7U6RFTAUIPW2JR2NGPBP2IYA super

I would go an reread you link.  It clearly state sin the previous debate he did the same thing with FOXNEWS.  Oh how the facts don’t back up what you say.  But that’s the norm for what liberals typically say.

  • http://twitter.com/TommyBennett Tom Bennett

    Breitbart is an irrelevant moron.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Jj-Wisniewski/100002654075475 Jj Wisniewski

Bill, the only two who have not gone on MSNBC are Romney and Gingrich. But, Romney hasn’t even gone on Fox until a few days ago where he flopped like a big whale.

Remember, to “conservative” scum bags on Mediaite it HAS to come from a valid source like DoucheBart, Mann Coulter, the Morning Zoo, Shammity, Cryin’ Eyes Beck or Greta Van Palin to truly be believed.

  • Anonymous

Who said Trump is a Conservative?

  • Anonymous

ahh, that liberal hate-machine weighs back in with his sophomoric, childish name calling again. That’s all he has.

  • Anonymous

If they had any sense they would go on more. This might be news to conservative morons but after the clown show is over they’re going to have a little thing called the general election. In order to win that election whichever of these losers fails to get gonged will have to convince people other than the 25% of knuckledraggers they have in the bag to vote for them in order to win. Get it stupids?

  • Anonymous

Why does anyone feel a need to respond to Trump? Since when was he a King maker?

  • Anonymous

Ilene….why are you so damn stupid?  Is it the liberal in you coming out?

  • Anonymous

Obama will lose big come November….mark my word.

  • Anonymous

Breitbart is pissed because Trump beat him to the “hold your own debate” con. Now that Trump screwed up the con so bad Breitbart can’t try it himself for fear of embarrassment.

Judging by the “deer in the headlights” expression you have in your photo, I’m guessing some of the more nuanced things in life blow right by you.

Talking specifically to you comment about congressional approval rating, its been in the tank for a decade, but also..it may come as a surprise, that congress actually encompasses both the house and the senate.  Amazingly enough, the senate is controlled by the left.  So in your assessment of how people feel about congress, does their wrath circumvent the senate and land squarely on the house, or does it apply to both.

Also, the Tea Party candidates elected in 2010 are generally polling pretty well in their districts…so there goes that…

  • Anonymous

Quote please regarding his desire to eliminate taxes for the wealthy.

I’m thinking either LBJ or FDR…..both of which lit the fuse to our inevitable insolvency as a country…

In this grand age of ignorance and shallowness, self-loathing clowns like Andrew Breitbart has found a relevant place in “Idiot America.”

clearly Mr. Breitbart has overestimated the value and creditability voters and candidates actually place on a reality show host whose known for stoking birthers, his insecurity about having no hair growing on the top of his head, several bankruptcy’s, and naming almost literally everything he owns it seems after himself(i guess so he won’t forget his name)

just saying you cannot like chris matthews politics but compared to Trump the guy looks like Ben Franklin

Fox news is one of a kind (the only conservative) news and opinion. So it gets 100% of the lean-right viewers. The lean-left viewers have other choices, so add together msnbc, cnn and throw in a few other not-fox channels and ADD THEM TOGETHER. Ratings fall in line with Mark Twain’s opinion of lies and statistics, with statistics coming in last.

An honest leader makes any system work. A dishonest or ruthless leader can ruin the best-intentioned system. One of the greatest periods in French history was under a king, but he was “enlightened” and ran the country as if he cared about the people and long term good.

Just because someone is a successful capitalist does not automatically mean he/she can run a country successfully. In fact, some use the system so well, they don’t even know what a constitution means let alone defend it.

Stephanopoulos is a good journalist. He uses facts. He is also a citizen and has conclusions of his own. It is possible to do the job well and not let private opinion get in the way. That assumed agenda is just that, assumed.

  • WiddleBabyDanielson

    I agree.

I could not believe the candidates who paraded by him.

  • Anonymous

As a lifelong Republican, committed to voting for whoever gets nominated to run against Obama, I can say any Republican would be a fool to go on the Trump show.  He’s an egomaniac, dedicated ONLY to his own promotion, and has openly said that he may yet run for Prez, himself, if he doesn’t approve of the Republican nominee.  We want a serious candidate for a serious job — not a kissup enabler for the Trump machine.

  • http://twitter.com/ZonaCumia Zona

This guy really thinks Newsmax and Trump are credible.  Seriously, he really thinks this.

what makes Trump credible enough to be a moderator at a debate between people trying to be the president of the united states?

Newsmax are hacks.  Period.  Same is true with ol Andrew.

  • http://twitter.com/ZonaCumia Zona

Yeah, but Greta Van Palin is funny.

  • Megan Williams

Oh for Pete’s sake.  These guys are running for PRESIDENT.  They want to appeal to ALL voters, no matter WHAT y’all think of MSNBC.  They barely appear there because they don’t want to piss off the lying machine of FAUX.  Trump is a bombastic moron.  These guys want to at least APPEAR credible.  Breitbart is a nimrod.

Maybe the GOP candidates need to go on the “Amazing Race” with Donald Trump.  That makes about as much sense as having a debate show with him.  Then, the person who wins that race is the candidate.  No crying over bad knees or high heels.

    Where is NEWS on FOX??

Try the two hours of Bret Bears and Shepard Smith giving straight news while in the same time slot competitors give an other dose of Democratic Party driven hatred and misinformation.

O’Reilly, Greta, Cavuto, Hannity and Meaghan Kelly ALWAYS give voice to a dissenting opinion. Try to find a dissenting opinion on MSNBC. The Five has Bob Beckel. I would like to see – and I am a conservative – another Leftie on The Five and more equal Left-Right on Hannity’s Great American Panel,  but I am satisfied that things being as they are, FOX is infinitely more fair and balanced than any of its competitors.

  • Anonymous

So a conservative-stacked panel and a token liberal every now and then makes things balanced?

Would MSNBC invite any of the Republican contenders for Presidency to ANY of their shows?? Would any of the Republican contenders accept such an invitation??

While I agree with most or even ALL of your sentiments, any and all of the Republican Presidential candidates would be a better President than 0bama.

Realizing that that there is no such thing as a PERFECT Republican/Conservative candidate,
any person with even the slightest inclination of patriotism must vote for whoever opposes 0bama.

Republicans, vote however you must in the primaries. But when it counts, vote REPUBLICAN!!

Why would Fox “NEWS” attack any of the candidates?  They are either past paid, or future Contributors to their network!  As the official party media platform of the Republican Party, why in the hell would they EVER ask serious questions or not build up the candidates afterwards?   I can’t see any way they would ever do that.
