Trevor Noah and Tomi Lahren Get Into Heated Debate Over Black Lives Matter and Colin Kaepernick
During an interview on The Daily Show tonight, host Trevor Noah raised his voice more than a few times while debating hot-button issues with The Blaze’s Tomi Lahren.
Lahren, who has become a viral star thanks to her video essays about social issues such as Black Lives Matter and Colin Kaepernick not standing for the national anthem, was Noah’s guest, and almost immediately the fireworks began.
After Noah joked a bit with her about why she’s always so angry after playing a clip of one of her rants, it started getting pretty serious.
Discussing Black Lives Matter, Noah and Lahren clashed over a number of things, but Noah really took umbrage with her previously saying that “Black Lives Matter is the new KKK.” He wondered if she understood the incendiary nature of her comments. She answered that it was “controversial” but “some things need to be said.”
Regarding Kaepernick, Noah felt that Lahren’s take on the whole situation is that he has his First Amendment rights and she has hers to criticize him, but her statement is for Kaepernick to shut up. This turned into a heated debate about what kind of protest is fine for a black man, considering all Kaepernick is doing is kneeling.
