Leslie Marshall is one of the liberal hosts on Fox News, so she’s used to sitting on panels and providing a valuable left-leaning perspective. Today, as the women of Outnumbered talked about media bias and wondered why the Orlando shooter’s father didn’t generate more headlines when he sat in on a Hillary Clinton speech, Marshall decided to lay out the difference between journals and commentators.
She explained that during her broadcasting classes in grad school, she learned that journalists are only there to report facts. What she does on her radio show and on panel shows on Fox News, however, is not the same.
Her message was simply that it’s wrong to conflate news reporters and analysts. During such a wild election season, that certainly seems prudent, but her message wasn’t only for consumers; she was speaking to the reporters, too.
