Bill O’Reilly Wants To Know Why Feminists Are Attacking Sarah Palin

video

Bill O’Reilly wants you to know that he is smarter than feminist playwright Eve Ensler. After showing a clip of Ensler asking why people give attention to someone (Sarah Palin) whose “intelligence hasn’t really evolved yet,” O’Reilly also claimed that if he and Ensler were to have a debate, he “would pound her into pudding with intellectual arguments.” Hyperbole or not, hearing O’Reilly chastise feminists for any critiques on Palin struck an odd chord, but made for strangely compelling video.

Of course, O’Reilly’s comments will be supported by woman at this blog who only become concerned with women’s issues when a male has the utter temerity to disagree with them. But, we know from hundreds of hours of airtime and a great deal of press, O’Reilly has a very low opinion of women. Excuse me now, my falafel is getting cold.

It takes a qualified sexual harasser like Bill O’Reilly to weigh in on these matters Royal King.

I’m not necessarily a feminist but I am a female, and I attack Palin for being
less than intelligent, a publicity monger, and as having nothing viable to add to the
political mix. She comes across as somewhat vapid to me, and I think she does
zero zip nada for the Republican Party – except embarass them just as Michael Steele has.

So, if FOX were to hire a mime to replace Shep on its only news show, not beyond the realm of possibility at FOX, how would the mime artist mime the Drop Out Governor of Alaska?

I’m no Palin fan but when you consider the viciousness of some of the attacks against her it seems odd that none of the feminist groups defend her against them. It just reinforces the notion that ideology trumps sex to them. How many times have we seen Hillary attacked over the years, unfairly I would say, in regards to looks and manner of dress? Too many. How many times have we seen feminist groups send out press releases denouncing that behavior? Every time. Rightly, too. They never do that with Palin. It reinforces the notion that, to them, ideology trumps equal treatment for women. If groups like NOW want to brand themselves as a feminist group for liberal females, fine. They should. But they should stop pretending to be something they are not.

Don’t like Palin? I couldn’t care less. Want to make fun of her? It’s a free country. Letterman says she looks like a “slutty stewardess” and you laugh? Laughter is the best medicine. But if, for example, Letterman had said something like that about Michelle Obama, and your first instinct was to go running for your crying towel, screaming “racism” at the top of your lungs, then you’re a hypocrite.

  • AikidoJoe

    @writer

You mean you DON’T think Michelle “Jackie O” Obama looks like a slutty stewardess? What planet are you on? That is as close to a slutty stewardess as you get! :-P

  • writer

I may think it, but I can’t say it. That would be racist.

    *gasp* I’ve been exposed!

If you’re exposed, wrap up warmly. This global warming is freezing my ass off.

I was surprised that O’Reilly’s guest Liberal radio show host Leslie Marshall and self-proclaimed feminist attacking the over the top attacks of Palin. She was clear she did not support Palin, but threw out there “As a woman” Marshall as a Liberal woman did not support.

I have to assume that since Colby did not include on his report on segment, that Marshall’s critique did not strike an odd chord with him.

Marshall took the class approach that the First Lady did this week regarding Palin.

I have 3 sisters and my mom that are staunch Liberal supporters (proud self-proclaimed feminists). Proud to claim they have never voted for a Repub. They vote often. This winter, they all bought Palin’s book. They claimed they did not read or even open the book and gave away as gifts. They stated as women, they felt the ‘need’ (whatever that means) to support Palin as a woman in spirit. They also vowed to never vote for Palin if she ran for anything. But I tease them anyway every chance I get.

I enjoyed your story, Liberal Ontogeny. 2008 was an interesting year for my family, a family of my wife, my mother, my aunts, my sisters and — me. All of them were strong Obama supporters from the moment he announced, and they could not stand Hillary. They all felt that the responsible feminist position was to support Obama. Hillary apparently failed the feminist smell test. I was a Hillary supporter because I tended to agree with her on foreign policy matters. I don’t think feminism entered into the picture at all. I remained a Hillary supporter, despite some coercion, until she finally self-combusted at her Cincinnati speech a couple of days before the Texas primary. I decided we had enough anger and bitterness without all of that! I voted for Obama in the primary.

I, too, have never voted for a Republican, and I always vote. I have voted for a variety of non-Democrats, but never a Republican. Of course, as a rule, Republicans in Texas are strident, yet inept. An interesting combination. If I lived in Maine, I could see myself voting for Snowe.

I’m sure O’Reilly could pound Eve Ensler “into pudding with intellectual arguments”, but I assume that becauseshe’s under contract with Fox, we’re not going to see Gov. Palin on any non-FNC shows and though I may be wrong, but other than a single national debate — has Ms. Palin been questioned by anyone harder edged than Katie Couric?

  • The Real Royal King

Cindy McCain, but that wasn’t made public.

  • SWWT

If you only vote for someone based on the name of their party, then I feel sorry for you.

  • liberalontogeny

    SWWT

I feel there is lots of merit in what you stated. For me, to do that it self-limiting. I don’t think one can agree on all party platform policies without compromise. I’m more of what can a particular politician do for me (family).

Last 10 years, I’ve grown more and more skeptical and cynical on both parties

  • The Real Royal King

I’ve never voted for someone based on the name of their [sic] party. I have, however, voted against someone because of his or her party identification. I could no more vote for a Republican, at least a Texas Republican than I could cheer on Al Qaeda. It wouldn’t be right.

  • The Real Royal King

Last 10 years, I’ve grown more and more skeptical and cynical on both parties.

I agree with this, as well. I wish we had a meaningful alternative. Green, as we have it in the USA, and the (White) Tea Party are not meaningful. Now, if I lived in Germany, I could pick from Social Democrats and Green, or, in England, (New) Labour or Liberal Democrat. We just don’t have such options.

  • DEO

So Billo’s argument was to attack Ensler’s IQ, because he could debate rings around her, so he says…..

  • http://www.sailrabbits.com Magister

    @DEO: Where’s the feminist’s ire?

  • SWWT

Then like I stated before, I feel sorry for you. There are good men and women who hail from both sides of the political spectrum.

  • m

Sarah Palin used to consider herself a feminist and even lauded Hillary’s successes in the Democratic primary. Then what? She got picked VP and had to cave into Republican conformity that feminism is “bad”.

  • pyrope

If, in the case presented by “apparently” one disagrees with Ms Palin on political philosophy and lack of significance on issues there exists a legitimate argument. However, in the case of “TRRK” who only seek to besmirch any individual with whom they cannot legitimately debate on issues, there exists no legitimacy. (I guess I’m accusing “TRRK” of being “illigitimate.”) But, Mr. O’Reilly does make a legitimate argument against the feminists who allow the various slanderous remarks to go unanswered, which proves their disengenousness and propensity for dual standards. I also have found it remarkable that NONE of the feminists have uttered so much as a whimper in rebuke of the muslim countries who largely view females as being on the same level of cattle and goats. When these feminist organizations come out loud and clear about feminist issues in the middle east, they will acquire credibility with me–not until.
