O’Reilly Factor Tapes In Hollywood; Promotes Some Odd “Celebrity” Guests

video

Bill O’Reilly has been taping his ratings dominant O’Reilly Factor from Los Angeles this week, and Fox News has been promoting it as “The Factor Goes Hollywood.” The promo spot claims that “Bill’s brought you the biggest names in the biz…” but the celebrities actually shown aren’t exactly what one would call big stars anymore. Or even relevant. Marion Ross (Mrs. Cunningham from Happy Days), and The Six Million Dollar Man‘s Lee Majors are just a couple of odd choices for “tinseltown titans” that he’s talked to in the past.

Other celebs shown include director Clint Eastwood, actor Anthony Michael Hall and Bell’s Palsy survivor Sylvester Stallone.

    Colby?
I don’t watch O’Reilly so I don’t care about his show…but your not so subtle put down of folks who have entertained us all in the past is a bit weird….you have a problem with hearing from Mrs. Cunningham?….or Heath Barkley?….Jess Brandon?…
It’s weird because it seems so easy to toss aside people from the past….people who have taught us…people who have entertained us, sometimes for decades….
It’s almost callous. That’s the way it reads…for me anyway.
Unfortunately today….this says more about you than it does about O’Reilly’s choice of guests…

Lee Majors is still a big star. I saw him in a hearing -aid commercial the other day.

Can we assume O’Reilly will be lamenting the “decline in values” in Hollywood or some other tiresome bullshit.

I loved Happy Days and the Six Million Dollar Man…but do you really believe that Lee Majors and Marion Ross are still relevant? At least in terms of how they are being promoted – as some of the biggest names in the biz?

I believe that you take some things waaaaaaaay too serious. When you end up picking nits, Colby…..it’s time to go out and get some air…look at the sky…have fun. Why do you care if O’Reilly or anyone else interviews these people? Don’t watch. It’s so easy. sheeeeeeeesh…

I thought that some of these people were dead. A real yawner, but he will still get the ratings.

Is O’Reilly morphing into Larry King?

Heath Barkley didn’t age all that well, did he? As I recall he was a bit of a boozer on the “Big Valley.”

Actually I had to google Heath’s image and immediately realized it was Little Joe. He was bit of a playboy from what I recall.

These guest aren’t surprising at all. O’Reilly has a thing for classic tv and routinely does profiles of actors who played beloved character from oldy tv shows.

It’s all in what you mean when it comes to “biggest stars.” Is Marion Ross “bigger” than, say, Paris Hilton? Kim Kardashian? Snooki? Well… if by “biggest” you mean popular now, but in 10 years, just a joke… then yes. But if you mean having an influence upon Hollywood and popular culture long after their careers end… than Ms. Ross has them beat hands down.

However, Stallone and Eastwood still are pretty big in both respects. Both are still acting, and have a variety of other projects (directing, producing, etc.). Those guys are both “big” no matter how you call it.

@ImNotBlue: I promise that I’m not picking on you, but I personally consider Paris Hilton one of the biggest media influences ofthe modern era. She’s created a multimillion dollar company built around the marketing of herself and her image, something others have done in the past for sure (see Zsa Zsa), but Miss Hilton has radically changed the “celebrity” industry.

Otherwis, I still dig Marion Ross, but it’s Betty White’s year.

Yeah… you may be right. Hilton has had a big influence… but I wonder (and this is why I included her) if we’ll remember her in 10 years. Hilton’s influence is seen, but she may not be remembered for it. What would you put her down as, “had big sex tape, popular for doing nothing, kinda dumb, “The Simple Life.” ” I don’t know if that really translates into memories.

Oh, and you’re 100% right about Betty White.
