O’Reilly Goes Off on Syria: Dire Consequences for Inaction, But U.S. ‘Too Weak’ to Act
Bill O’Reilly opened his show Monday night declaring that the divisions in the global community over what to do about Assad are “another great win for the war criminals,” saying that a world united behind Assad would make any action go much smoother. But O’Reilly argued the world is simply “too cowardly” to take a stand, and the U.S. is “too weak” to step in.
O’Reilly said that in situations like this, the United States and its allies need to “impose some sense of justice on the planet,” but at this point the U.S. is “too weak to even take care of a cheap thug like Assad.” He cited the public and Congressional opposition to any action in Syria, even if they agree Assad used chemical weapons.
But O’Reilly warned that the consequences of doing nothing will be dire, arguing that “terrorism will expand” and Obama’s global leadership will crumble. He doubted anything short of a “miracle” would change the American public’s mind, because right now Americans simply “don’t like the mission, they don’t like the strategy, they don’t like the leadership.”
O’Reilly concluded that Syria is really about “the struggle for decency and justice in this world.”
