The White House appears to be hunkering down following the announcement from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein is appointing former FBI Director Robert Mueller as special counsel investigating Russian interference in the 2016 election.
It took nearly 90 minutes after Rosenstein’s statement became public for the White House to respond — in the form of a terse, three sentence statement from President Donald Trump.
And according to Tucker Carlson, a key White House official bailed on a scheduled appearance on short notice Wednesday night.
Kellyanne Conway, Counselor to President Trump, was a Tucker Carlson Tonight no-show.
“I got to be blunt with you, Kellyanne Conway was going to be sitting here,” Carlson said. “We had booked her. At their request, by the way. We don’t often have people from the administration on. But they said’ We want to send over Kellyanne Conway.’ ‘Great.’ And then, not long before air, they canceled it for reasons that weren’t exactly clear.”
The Conway no-show appeared to impact Carlson’s assessment of the current state of affairs at the White House.
“I think a lot of the descriptions in the press about what’s going on at the White House are false or they’re animated by the hate the process for Trump, which is totally real,” Carlson said. “But it does seem chaotic over there, I gotta be honest.”
