Pro-Trump Father of Parkland Victim Makes Stand Against POTUS: ‘You’ve Got to Stop Saying Arm the Teachers’
Ever since his emotional remarks at the White House listening session in February, Andrew Pollock — whose daughter Meadow was killed in the Parkland, FL shooting — has had a prominent place in the national discussion on guns. Pollock has stood out among many of those affected by the Parkland tragedy in that he is generally a supporter of President Donald Trump.
But Monday on Fox Business Network’s Varney & Co., Pollock came out firmly against one of the president’s signature ideas to end school shootings — concealed carry for teachers.
“You’ve got to stop saying ‘arm the teachers,'” Pollock told host Stuart Varney. “That is doing a disservice to the people of Florida. It’s not about arming teachers, Stu. It’s about getting trained, qualified people in the right places to protect their children. That’s what it’s about.”
Pollock did praise Trump for what he deemed to be a helpful role in getting new gun safety measures passed in Florida — which Gov. Rick Scott (R-FL) signed into law on Friday.
“He is the first president to come out with the safety bill,” Pollock said. “And I commend the president for stepping up and taking action for the interest of the people.”
