Most politicians would have gone to a meeting like the one Don jr attended in order to get info on an opponent. That’s politics!

President Donald Trump took to Twitter Monday morning to defend his son Don Jr., who is embroiled in controversy after it was revealed he met with Russians promising dirt on Hillary Clinton during the 2016 election campaign.
The president tweeted that “most politicians” would have taken the now-infamous Don Jr. meeting at Trump Tower, claiming “That’s politics!”
A series of reports trickled out last week detailing Don Jr.’s meeting with a Russian lawyer who promised him damaging information on his father’s opponent, courtesy of the Kremlin.
According to those present at the meeting, no damaging information was exchanged, and the discussion eventually turned to Russian adoption policy.
But Don Jr.’s misleading statements about the meeting, paired with Russian interference in the U.S. election to sabotage Clinton’s campaign, has provided plenty of fodder for cable news speculation — as well as Robert Mueller’s special investigation.
A common talking point from Trump-allies seeking to defend Don Jr. is that every campaign seeks opposition research on their opponent — Jeannine Pirro, one of the president’s most dedicated Trumpeters, said she would take dirt from the devil if he was kind enough to offer it.
