Obama: World Leaders Keep Asking Me ‘What’s Going On With Your Elections?’
During an interview on CBS This Morning today, President Obama broached the subject of how America’s presidential election is baffling people on the world stage.
Obama first addressed his phone call with Vladimir Putin over the potential collapse of the Syrian ceasefire before Rose asked him about America’s place in the world and how it can retain its leadership role.
Obama said it won’t “if our political system continues to be dysfunctional.”
“It’s fascinating,” Obama said, “the degree to which––the single most important question I’m asked these days from other world leader is ‘What’s going on with your elections?'”
The president isn’t the only one who’s said world leaders are fascinated by our election. Secretary of State John Kerry said the same weeks ago, concluding, “It’s clear to me that what’s happening is an embarrassment to our country.”
