Peter Thiel Declares ‘I Am Proud to Be Gay!’ in Speech to the RNC

peter thielSilicon Valley venture capitalist Peter Thiel spoke at the Republican National Convention tonight and declared, “I am proud to be gay! I am proud to be a Republican! But most of all, I am proud to be an American!”

Thiel talked at great length about how government is far behind Silicon Valley when it comes to technology and innovation, saying that “our government is broken, our nuclear bases still use floppy disks” and even snarking, “We don’t need to see Hillary Clinton‘s deleted emails, her incompetence is in plain sight.”

he also took a moment to declare that bathroom bills pushed in several Republican states are “a distraction from our real problems,” and when he said he’s proud to be gay, he got a massive round of applause.

Thiel, of course, now famously covered Hulk Hogan‘s legal fees in his successful battle against Gawker. Thiel has held a grudge against Gawker since they wrote a piece in 2007 titled “Peter Thiel is totally gay, people.”
