Trump Goes After the ‘Fake News Media’ Again at Vegas Rally: ‘They’re Still Crying’
Kicking off a Las Vegas rally to drum up support for Republicans ahead of the midterm elections, President Donald Trump turned to the past to reminisce while taking a swipe at the media.
“You remember when we had that great, great election, almost two years ago, can you believe?” he asked the crowd Thursday night from the podium, claiming there were “tears from the fake news media when it was obvious that we were going to win.”
Notorious for his anti-press rhetoric, Trump’s rally had barely even begun before he started ripping into journalists who were there covering the event.
“Look at them, they’re still crying,” he said. “And let them cry. They don’t know what the hell happened, but it happened, and that’s why we are setting all-time records, that’s why we are doing so well, but we have to get out for the midterms.”
The president then pleaded with the audience to vote in the November elections, warning them against complacency.
“You got to vote,” he said. “We need more Republicans. When they say we have a majority, it is like this: If somebody has a cold, we don’t have a majority that day. It is like, we have to have more Republicans in office. We will get everything we want so fast.”
Thursday’s event was the latest in an ongoing series of rallies attended by Trump to mobilize voters for the GOP.
