NYC Mayor Bloomberg On Fox: Birther Issue A ‘Terrible Mistake’ For Republicans

Video

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg appeared on Fox News Sunday and host Chris Wallace tried to get his opinion on whether he was still a “big fan” of Donald Trump. Bloomberg wiggled free from answering whether he likes the idea of Trump as a presidential candidate, but did stress that he thinks the Birther strategy is a losing one.

Bloomberg matter-of-factly stated that President Obama was born here. Furthermore, on making Obama’s birth certificate a campaign issue, Bloomberg warned:

“I think the Republicans are making a terrible mistake in making this a big issue. We have immigration, we have the deficit, we have the economy. Those are the things that the public cares about. . . . If the Republican party doesn’t start addressing that, they will lose and they deserve to.”

Bloomberg admits some of the side issues make for “good theater,” but he’s confident the American public is smart enough to want to focus on the more important topics. Yet given Bloomberg himself was once rumored to be an independent force in the 2012 election, might his critique of Trump’s strategy be partially attributable to missing some of the spotlight?

Bloomberg… The same guy who claimed that the Time Sq Pathfinder bomber was someone who was upset about Obamacare… is missing the point…
There is a phenomenon CAUSING the birther issue… Liberals keep focusing on the reactions to it… dsimissing the very issue they harp on as stupid, crazy, and racist…
On this topic, the Fourth Estate is asleep at the wheel…

    Time for a SALT Party!!!

Now even an ultra liberal like Mike Bloomberg is stating that getting rid of Obama at all costs is what’s most important for America in this election season. He just believes everybody already knows Barack WAS born in Kenya, not Hawaii, so why push the issue.

  • Liberal Tormentor

The Republican’s aren’t making this a big issue. One of them, Trump is, along with the entire liberal media.

If we’re going to go Liberal with a Republican candidate, at least give me a sane one. :) The Donald and Mitt have a lot in common – hair, flip-flopping on issues, hair, hair, oh and did I mention hair?

I still hold out hope for a non-Mitt, non-Huck and non-Ron Paul Presidential candidate. I’m flexible.

    I like:

    - Paul Ryan (even though he’s got liberal votes, he lives right by Madison so he gets a pass to me)
    - Allen West (’nuff said)
    - Sarah Palin (she’s got the ground troops that other potential candidates don’t have & energy policy alone is gonna be needed)
    - Herman Cain (I want to know more about him, but I like how he took it to Clinton in a video I saw on youtube)
    - Tim Pawlenty (Iffy – would vote for, but I don’t know if I’d be excited about it whereas with others, I would DEFINITELY get out there and get active)

They all have their pros and cons. I’m partial to the WI folks – Walker, Johnson and Ryan – for obvious reasons.

    Match-ups:

    Palin – West
    Palin – Walker

The R Party has a GREAT future outlook – it’s just 2012 that looks dismal regardless. However, the D’s have no other charismatic leaders so I have no clue who they would run in 2016 and beyond.

Hahahahahahahaha. “That’s what people said about Clinton in 92, too” Yeah, fine, but it’s also what people said about Dole in 96, Mondale in 84, and McGovern in 72.

Literally none of those tickets would stand a chance out here in Realityville.

Palin alone is a disqualifier for many, and Ryan would have to deal with that thing called “The Ryan Budget” which, as valiant as it may be, still really does overhaul Medicare, enough to scare seniors enough for him to lose.

Haha I have no major problems with Rubio or T-Paw. I just think that T-Paw needs more of a backbone so he’s not trying to always come off so likable. He’s a good guy at heart and he means well and he could be the reasoned choice. I just fear that there wouldn’t be the “charismatic” side that is needed for volunteer support. Rubio is and will be a great asset for us.

I would love for West to get into the campaign at the VP level. He can contrast Obama in a way that no one else can. Besides, think of the Biden-West debate. It would be epic.

I’m personally a social con, but I can respect the libertarian side of the social con. issues. I also am a fiscal con overall. Whoever, the candidate is, I wait for the debates, because there comes a point when teleprompters won’t help Obama. He’s got major issues that the media isn’t transfixed on now. And Hollywood won’t be able to help him on camera anymore.

Don’t care on iota what Mayor Bloomberg has to say about anything. While he was trying to appear all open-minded about the Mosque being built in NY, he was actually aiding his financial interests in the UAE

He has been accepted to do business with those companies that use Sharia Law and his company Bloomberg Professional Services is heavily invested in the Islamic Finance market providing databases and analytic tools for Sharia-Compliant Financing. .

What does his being the first black president have to do with it?

Actually, the Hillary supporter that made this a major issue, still thinks a major issue.

So you don’t think that Obama couldn’t issue an executive order, as President, to make one final copy or show for X period of time, his actual BC. Okkkkkkk.

The word first is special. Not sure why you would even contest that issue.

Alice – What’s the name of the physician that gave birth to Obama? Why’s that such an issue? If you really don’t believe in these types of issues, then I think a Palin or anyone else is fair game for keeping the same items under wraps.

Who cares what she wrote about in college or what her emails stated? You don’t really care about things such as FOIA, right? I hope not because you’re proving that type of mentality with your posts. And for that, you should/would condemn all of the frivolous claims that were offered against Palin after she returned back to her Governorship, right?

Sure, but where is his long-form BC? There are conflicting reports on the Wiki page? Do you have something that shows this precise document or at least somewhere in which Obama talks about the information listed on said document? Such as, who was his physician?

When responsible people begin to listen to a self-serving hypocritical lunatic-left twit like bloomberg, all will be lost.

Bloomberg: Don’t ask “where’s “You Lie!” ‘s birth certificate, instead do something “good” like supporting the Ground Zero Mosque in praise of Allah !!!”

Anybody that wants to “understand” Bloomberg’s moronic support for the Ground Zero Mosque needs to simply “Follow the Money”. Bloomberg’s business news operation is currently engaged in a major expansion in the Middle East, including planning to massively increase the size of it’s news hub in Dubai. They are in direct competition with Reuters for this expanded business. Time is money and the sooner the GZM is built, the sooner Bloomberg will get his pay-back from the muslins in terms of their support of his news operation expansion!!! Is his support for the GZM clear now?

Bloomberg is wrong. This is h-u-u-u-u-u-u-u-u-u-u-u-ge, and I hope each and every Republican talks about it, day in and day out right up until the elections. And, Rev. Wright and Dr. Ayers. We haven’t heard enough about these matters. They need to be vetted. Come on, Republicans. Do this for your country. Now. Every day until election. And, don’t forget Nobama attended a madrasas. Trump is pissing off a lot of people by behaving so badly. Equally disturbing is that he’s temporarily the front runner amongst Republican contenders. I’ve been racking my brains trying to figure out why a lot of people find this character an attractive potential candidate, and I have a theory. Donald Trump is the ultimate bully who will, if necessary, crack heads to get this country moving. I think that’s what a lot of rightwingers are longing for, a ’strongman’ who will come along and make everything right, literally and figuratively. In our slow rightward drift, Trump is a little bit like the original fascist strongman, the one and only Benito Mussolini. Contrary to rightwing propaganda, fascism isn’t socialism writ large, but, rather, it’s what happens when capitalism goes out of control. Fascism, according to it’s originator, Benito Mussolini, is when corporations and the government merge, and the individual’s interests become secondary to the state. Mussolini was a relatively benevolent leader until the worldwide depression and Hitler’s rise to power swept him into Hitler’s demonic orbit. My feeling is the Trump blitz will last another few weeks until the rightwingers find out that Trump is not the real Benito Mussolini deal. Trump has much too much baggage and absolutely no principles, good or bad.

The real thing you F&@K WITS should be worrying about is the fact that ALL of your congressmen voted for the Ayn Rand disciple Ryan’s Medicare eliminating budget. Now the RIGHTIES OWN THE FACT that they WANT TO KILL MEDICARE. You CLOWNS can argue it anyway you want but that’s the way the Gray Hairs are going to see it. GAME OVER RIGHTIES!!!

It’s still just stinky dog crap, just a little bit less and less until it eventually fades or is washed away.

And, no, you are also wrong on the next point. Hawaii CAN release a copy of any information they have with a signed Release of Information from the President. That’s the law.

And, It’s not against the law for HIM to release a copy, You are just being silly now. How do you think anyone would be able to get a job or anything else if a BC is needed and they had the misfortune to live in a state that wouldn’t release a copy of the BC?

I know because in my profession I dealt with this issue for the past 20 years, having to get a signed ROI before releasing any information.

As usual, Bloombergs head is firmly set where the sun don’t shine. This is NOT a Republican issue, this is a Constitutional issue. But like many in politics, Bloomberg dosn’t bother, or doesn’t care about the law of the land. To him, and others, the Constitution is only implemented when it serves their purpose. This issue must be decided on the requirements set out in the Constitution. Bimbo must be fully vetted, no if’s, and’s, or but’s!

The mayor is jealous. What has he done lately? Why would any sane man work for $1 per year and change political parties 3 times. To get elected? He hasn’t fooled anyone. But he is really jealous because Trump has “trumped” him in wealth. Trump knows how to get peoples attention and get the job done — something this country needs “right” now, instead of the (so called) cool guy that can’t get anything done.
