Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein: I Don’t See ‘Any Justification’ for Firing Mueller

Once again Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein has spoken out to share his belief that he sees no just cause to fire Robert Mueller.
Rosenstein spoke to USA Today and very directly stated, “The special counsel is not an unguided missile. I don’t believe there is any justification at this point for terminating the special counsel.”
President Trump, you’ll recall, did want the special counsel fired last year but was stopped from doing so, as the New York Times reported.
Rosenstein –– who was spotted dining with AG Jeff Sessions amid Trump’s attacks on him –– also addressed the criticisms the DOJ has been facing recently (while not directly mentioning a lot of the criticism is coming from Republicans and the President himself):
“I believe much of the criticism will fall by the wayside when people reflect on this era and the Department of Justice,” said Rosenstein, who did not refer to Trump directly. “I’m very confident that when the history of this era is written, it will reflect that the department was operated with integrity.”
Back in January, you may remember, there was a report from CNN about how the President had asked Rosenstein if he was “on my team” regarding the Russia matter.
