Rand Paul Jabs at Hillary’s ‘Shoot First’ Syria Policy
Rand Paul will probably run for president in 2016. Hillary Clinton is pretty much running already. And one of the former’s strategies to hit the latter, it seems, is taking shots at her hawkish foreign policy. And Paul did it again in a Wall Street Journal op-ed going after U.S. interventionist policy.
And, in fact, Paul thinks that such policy has actually helped groups like ISIS. And he goes after Clinton in particular, writing, “We are lucky Mrs. Clinton didn’t get her way and the Obama administration did not bring about regime change in Syria. That new regime might well be ISIS.”
He calls this interventionist foreign policy “unhinged” and contradictory, with statements of support for arming groups Paul says are allied with ISIS. And again, Paul focuses on Clinton.
Those who say we should have done more to arm the Syrian rebel groups have it backward. Mrs. Clinton was also eager to shoot first in Syria before asking some important questions…
A reasonable degree of foresight should be a prerequisite for holding high office. So should basic hindsight. This administration has neither.
Paul takes a few shots at hawkish Republicans and warns against the folly of “potentially aiding our enemies” just to see regime change.
