Police responded to reports of shots fired at a high school in Dalton, Georgia on Wednesday, and said they placed a teacher in custody who had barricaded himself in a classroom.
Authorities said no students were wounded in the shooting, and the school was evacuated and locked down as police responded to the scene.
On Twitter, a number of students posted videos of chaos at the school. One user tweeting under the account “Chondi” took to the social media platform to lambaste the NRA for the proposal to arm teachers, claiming her “favorite teacher” had “just blockaded his door” and opened fire:
@nra my favorite teacher at Dalton high school just blockaded his door and proceeded to shoot. We had to run out The back of the school in the rain. Students were being trampled and screaming. I dare you to tell me arming teachers will make us safe.
