WATCH LIVE: Joe Biden Delivers Eulogy for John McCain at Memorial Service in Arizona

Former Vice President Joe Biden will give a eulogy for John McCain today at an Arizona memorial event in honor of the late senator.

Biden and other officials will speak at North Phoenix Baptist Church, where family and friends will hold an event honoring McCain, and commending him for a lifetime of public service. The memorial comes after McCain’s benediction at the Arizona State Capitol, where the public was allowed to appear before his casket and pay their last respects.

Even though Biden and McCain stood on opposite sides during the 2008 election, the two maintained a positive relationship that dates back all the way to 1970s. McCain’s former campaign manager Rick Davis noted that Biden became an especially close friend of the family over the last few months, and the vice president’s speech is likely to focus on their friendship and the struggles their families have dealt with amid fights with cancer.

Tomorrow, McCain’s body will be flown to Washington D.C., where he will lie in state at the Capitol Rotunda before he’s lain to rest at the U.S. Naval Academy Cemetery.

Coverage is slated to begin at 12:15 p.m ET. Watch above, via CBS.
