Lawrence O’Donnell Shreds O’Reilly’s ‘Very Narrow And Uneducated Mind’ On American Racism

Lawrence O’Donnell called out Bill O’Reilly on Monday night over his commentary on race that’s gotten so much attention in the media in the past few weeks. O’Donnell explained how O’Reilly hated President Obama‘s comments on the Trayvon Martin case so much he delivered a fiery rant against it, remarking that America’s racial issues are more complicated than how O’Reilly views it in his “very narrow and uneducated mind.”

In particular, O’Donnell fired back against O’Reilly’s assertion that the “disintegration of the black family” is largely responsible for the problems of the black community, which have “nothing to do with slavery.” O’Donnell brought up a report on the black family that “began with slavery” and called American slavery “the most awful the world has ever known.”

O’Donnell went down the line of all the racial “agonies” listed in the report, and said of two people who have studied race for much longer than O’Reilly, “Unlike Bill O’Reilly, they have both praised the determination and the creativity that most black women have brought to mothering, including single mothers.”
