Following a New York Times story about a super PAC that may unearth the Rev. Jeremiah Wright issue to use against President Barack Obama, Mitt Romney distanced himself from the attack, saying he’s focusing on the economy not a “character assassination.” On his radio show Thursday, Sean Hannity asked, why? Had the situation been reversed, Hannity said, “the Obama mania media” would never let Romney live it down.

Mitt Romney was quick to “repudiate” any plans one super PAC may have to dig up the Rev. Jeremiah Wright controversy. Asked about it his past remarks regarding Wright, Romney said he’s “not sure” what he said, but “I stand by it.” The comment in question took place back in February on Sean Hannity‘s radio show.

While Joe Biden addressed supporters at a campaign stop in Ohio, his staff shooed away Columbus Dispatch reporter Joe Vardon who attempted to ask the vice-president about coal. Pastor Paul Cameron is increasingly starting to believe that President Barack Obama is gay– and he has made no bones about alerting the press to this development. He expanded on his initial comments today on The David Pakman Show, whose host asked Cameron whether he had made the choice not to be gay. “I didn’t do that so much consciously,” he replied, “I reacted to my environment.”

The media have been enthralled this week with the story of Eduardo Saverin, onetime Facebook founder and current millionaire/fictional Aaron Sorkin tragic figure. He gave up his American citizenship earlier in the week allegedly to avoid paying up to like $67 million in taxes (according to Sens. Chuck Schumer and Bob Casey), and now the Senators are planning to legislate the problem away, as only senators can. During a press conference this morning, Schumer and Casey unveiled the “Ex-PATRIOT Act,” specifically designed to prevent “outrages” like Saverin’s move to Singapore.

Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney has come out publically and called for a friendly PAC planning to run an ad against Obama linking him to his controversial pastor Rev. Jeremiah Wright to abandon that ad. Romney reportedly said that he worries his campaign will be portrayed as an “attack campaign” running against President Barack Obama as an individual rather than against his record as President.

Business Insider reports that on Wednesday in St. Petersburg, Florida, presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney began campaigning with an interesting prop behind him: a large, real-time debt clock, tracking the American debt and each individual taxpayer’s share of it. During his speech, with the debt clock ticking away behind him, Romney rightfully blamed both parties for our rapidly-growing national debt. It’s a serious problem that neither party seems willing to address. But this prop is obnoxious. It is incredibly dishonest for Romney to scare people about the debt when, in reality, he has absolutely no serious plan to cut spending and reduce the national debt.

Donna Summer, the legendary singer and 5-time Grammy award winner that catapulted synth-based disco into the national spotlight, has passed away this morning, according to TMZ. She was 63 years old and living in Florida, according to reports. The singer departs with a career responsible in great part for the creation of modern dance music, with singles such as “Love to Love You, Baby,” “I Feel Love,” and “Bad Girls.”

Audio leaked to KUSA-TV reveal Colorado Republican Congressman Mike Coffman going off on President Obama’s Americanism, shocking many of the attendees with his provocative comments, TPM reports. He leaves himself a bit of leeway on the official citizenship status of the President, instead arguing that it doesn’t even matter– he’s not an American, anyway.

The New York Times‘ Jeff Zeleny and Jim Rutenberg have uncovered the playbook for a proposed anti-Obama ad campaign that would portray the president as a “metrosexual, black Abe Lincoln,” among other unflattering images.

Things got ugly out there on the campaign trail as an overzealous Romney aide physically blocked out reporters from a speaking event. “We’re not going to do this,” Krista Warren screamed as she began ejecting embedded Romney reporters campaign from a ropeline as they attempted to ask the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

Radar Online is reporting that Mary Kennedy, the former wife of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., has been found dead. They quote a source saying that police are at the home of Robert’s home and that Mary may have committed suicide. As of yet, the report is unsubstantiated.

Mediaite’s own Tommy Christopher spent the morning today with Bill Press on his radio show, going through everything from America’s most popular baby names to the rumors that CNN might be courting Jake Tapper away from ABC News. Christopher doesn’t believe the latter will happen, and remains steadfast in thinking President Obama won’t be hurt by his same-sex marriage vote.

While hobnobbing at a downtown DC sandwich shop, Taylor Gourmet, President Obama notified reporters today that mortgage refinancing should be made easier “because they’ve got an extra $2,000 in their pocket. Then they can buy more hoagies or go shop for some outstanding organic foods,” the Washington Free Beacon reports.

On Wednesday, at a campaign stop in Youngstown, Ohio, Biden grabbed his audience by the lapels and projected copious wads of ferocious saliva in their faces as he enumerated the myriad reasons why they should be—er, I mean, why he’s outraged over the state of American politics.

In a letter to Citizens United supporters, Mike Huckabee made clear his feelings about President Barack Obama. Commenting about how he doesn’t trust the president, he went on to say that Obama has surrounded himself with “morally repugnant political whores with misshapen values and gutter-level ethics.”

In what may be the most unintentionally accurate summation of how political partisanship works, former Obama green jobs adviser Van Jones recently told C-SPAN’s Book TV that he didn’t protest during the 2010 BP oil spill because Barack Obama was president. Jones admitted that had John McCain or George Bush (or, we can assume, any Republican) been president during the disaster, “I’d have been out there with a sign protesting.”
