Laura Ingraham Hits Mattis For Resignation Letter: ‘Unnecessarily Petty of an American Hero’
Fox News host Laura Ingraham slammed outgoing Secretary of Defense James Mattis for sending a “petty” letter of resignation.
To recap, President Donald Trump first announced Mattis’ departure by saying “General Jim Mattis will be retiring, with distinction, at the end of February, after having served my Administration as Secretary of Defense for the past two years.”
Shortly after that, however, Mattis’ resignation — not retirement letter — came out.
In that letter, Mattis made it clear that he could no longer stay because his priorities did not align with Trump’s.
“Because you have the right to have a Secretary of Defense whose views are better aligned with yours on these and other subjects, I believe it is right for me to step down from my position,” Mattis wrote.
Speaking of Mattis on her show Thursday night, Ingraham and her panel first discussed finding someone else to take the job.
“He will be able to find another general who will serve this country well,” panelist Rep. Steve Scalise (R-LA) said.
Ingraham, though, still wasn’t happy with the way Mattis wrote his resignation letter. After calling it “dismissive” a few minutes prior, Ingraham said this: “It seems unnecessarily petty of an American hero, Mattis, and I thought that was surprising.”
