Jon Stewart Ridicules Cable News Coverage Of Proposition 8 Decision

video

You know what’s more enjoyable that following the news? Following the cable news coverage of and commenting on their methods. Yes, making fun of the teevee is a time-honored tradition in these United States, however, done poorly, one can just as easily come off as a puerile, ill-informed jerk instead of being funny. Which is why we follow the virtuoso (and still bewhiskered) steez of Jon Stewart. Perhaps you’ve heard of him. In the following clip he takes apart Sarah Palin, Rick Sanchez and Neil Cavuto for their simplistic coverage of the recent decision to overturn Proposition 8. And a nation laughed.

Cable news is absolute dogshit? No way…..

    “Don’t rush into anything Jeff.”

    Great advice CNN reporter!

And keep on stroking your wife dude. Prove how straight you are. Good luck in the dictatorship too.

Is Neil single? I hope not or he shouldn’t have been hired.

“This biased judge” followed by “I don’t know why he’s biased.” when challenged. Priceless. Nice job Maggie.

This was an interesting mix of clips, wasn’t it. I do have to say that the Drop Out Governor actually seemed less vacuous than Cavuto. That couldn’t have been easy for Cavuto. But when your premise is employers won’t hire gay people because they’re more expensive, you’re not going anywhere fast.

The people vote for Prop 8 and a judge says “fuck what the people say”. Yeah, Jon, that’s a real knee slapper.

Oh, stop! I’m so wounded. You said something about Republicans. LOL Both major parties stink. And no matter the judge’s party affiliation, he still in effect was saying “fuck the people”.

Indeed. That pesky Consitution and the cads who seek t hold us true to it! A pox on them, I say: a pox!

You know, Righter, if you wish to ban gayness in America, there is a process, actually two processes, for amending the Constitution. Here is a nice summary in easily understandable terms:

    http://www.archives.gov/federal-register/constitution/

I don’t see in this text, or in the Constitution itself, a process for amendment by an initiative passed by a bare majority of voters in a single state. Do you? Am I missing something? In fact, few states even have the ballot initiative process.

Now, let’s go about this properly. You get both houses of Cogress to pass you Anti-Gayness Law, and then sent it out to 38 states for ratification. Alabama will call a special session, and you’ll have one state the next day. After a couple of decades, we’ll see how the other 37 states are doing.

Good luck to you. Take lots of bottled war and granola bars.

Part of me is currious to see how consistent you are but another part of me already knows the answer.

King, those nursery rhymes are cute. When are getting to fractions? And King, despite your stereotyping of anyone who dares disagree with your far left philosophy, I have nothing against gay people. Whatever they want to do isn’t affecting me. Just pointing out that people in several states (shock alert, King! It’s not just in the south!) have said they’re against gay marriage. Your argument is with them, King. I was just commenting that the will of the people is being ignored by a judge.

  • writer

Bootie, I see you’re following the King again. Which one of you is the shark, and which one is the pilot fish waiting for scraps?

In a glass half empty sort of fashion, perhaps. The glass half full scenario is that the Judge was upholding the Constitution, something for which you have surprisingly little respect.

Yes, and I am sure you know some good Negroes as well.

I’d like to say I were curious as well, but then Righter would tell everyone, repeatedly, ad nauseum, that we were bi-curious. Let me be clear: I am not in the least curious about Righter’s comment. Let me repeat: I am not in the least curious about Righter’s comment.

As a matter of fact, King, I have met some nice and decent black people. But unlike you, I don’t pretend that there’s no such thing as a mean or racist black person. That would be as ridiculous as claiming there are no mean or racist white people. And we all know you sure don’t do that, do you King? So using your logic, when you say there are white racists, that means you hate all white people. Right?

No, just realistic, King. There are bad and racist people in all races. Your constant inferences that these traits only exist in the white race shows that you’re locked into your political ideology, and common sense be damned.

  • The_Reasonable_Lib

Personally I found the segment with the author much more interesting. I never knew Jefferson and some of the other founding fathers had such relationships with it.

I think what King is talking about is how your statement implies that only SOME african-americans people are nice and decent as if to say the majority of us are not.

Cavuto revealed a lot about himself in that sound byte.

First off, I think marriage should be reserved for those wanting to have and raise children.

Now let’s ridicule Steward and his ill-informed audience on the main theme of this segment:

I must have missed the DISCOVERY that homosexuality is an immutable characteristic! – Tell me, what was the scientific evidence on that?

Moreso, that means conceptual orientations can be transfered genetically; so is religion an immutable trait? Preference for chocolates? Disdain toward lawyers?

Also, I guess that now means we will be able to determine at birth who will & will not be homosexual, right? – but what about bi-sexuals – is there yet another gene? – or a longer finger? (remember that canard!?)

Of course, the reality is that homosexuality, like any other personality trait, is derived through conditioned interaction with one’s environment – both conscious & unconscious.

…but it’s much easier for liberals to EMOTE than engage in analytical thought, so they’ll continue to wallow in their own merry – or should I say, gay – delusions!!

What about women who are unable to have their own children? Or older couples? Or those who don’t want children? We should not allow them to marry?

When did you choose to be straight?

Are you a scientist or medical doctor?

Wow Norbit, its a good thing that your here because its important to have those kinds kinds of determinations made for everyone else. I especially love the well thought definition of what marriage should be reserved for…so women should just go back to making babies perhaps? Maybe stay at home and cook? Not knocking the choice, more just concerned with you defining whats right and wrong for me and those of us who don’t necessarily agree with your point of view.

I thought I was the only one who saw that!!! Bootsy follows around the angriest left-winger on here, and claps gleefully no matter what they say. He reminds me of the small kid who hangs around the popular kid, thinking he’s part of the group.

Of course, in this case, the “popular kid” is a known liar… so it’s not quite the same thing.

As for his poems… I’m still cutting him some slack. He’s probably still really distraught over the whole Sherrod deal, and the fact that he can’t actually blame FNC for anything. Poor guy. He so desperately wants to call them liars, and have other people believe him… too bad he doesn’t spend more time working on finding facts, instead of writing nursery rhymes. But then again, if he worked more with facts… his poems would be a lot different.

RL, aren’t you splitting hairs on the use of the word ‘some’? Do I have to give exact figures? My point is there are some good people and some bad people in all races. But Royal King only believes bad people can exist in the white race. Anyone with common sense knows better, and it amazes me that you left wing posters keep siding with his position.

Two lesbians overheard in a bar:

“I think we must always be frank with one another.”

“OK, you be Frank tonite and I’ll be Frank tomorrow.”
