Rand Paul’s Wife Defends Him Against Sexism Charge: ‘That’s Not Who He Is’

VIDEO

After testy interviews with NBC’s Savannah Guthrie and CNBC’s Kelly Evans, Senator and 2016 GOP contender Rand Paul has begun to develop a reputation as someone who doesn’t take kindly to being challenged by women. His wife Kelley Paul defended him against those charges on Fox & Friends Tuesday morning.

“That is not who Rand is, at all,” Paul said. “Rand’s entire professional career is working with female surgeons. His longtime partner in his opthalmology practice was a very accomplished high achieving female surgeon. They worked together for ten years. Now she’s a huge political supporter. He goes back to Kentucky and does pro bono work with another very prominent female surgeon.”

“So professionally, personally, he is the type of person who wants to work with somebody and value their talents and ability for who they are,” she said. “That label upset me.”

Steve Doocy informed her it was a plot by the mainstream media to discredit him, which is a normal thing to say on television.
