‘What The F*ck!’: Audio From The View Reveals Elizabeth Hasselbeck Threatened to Quit Mid-Show in Explosive Tirade
Former co-host of The View Elisabeth Hasselbeck once tried to quit the show in the middle of a commercial break, in wild audio released by Variety to compliment Ramin Setoodeh‘s new book on the frequently explosive talk show.
Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View includes a glimpse into the 2006 moment, which happened after Barbara Walters and Joy Behar argued with Hasselbeck about the morning-after pill being made accessible over-the-counter.
At one point Walters cut off the discussion and sent to break, at which point Hasselbeck raged about the segment and threatened to quit the show.
“Fuck that! I’m not going to sit here and get reprimanded on the air!” Hasselbeck fumed as Joy Behar tried to calm her down. “What the fuck! I’m not even going to go back out there.”
“What the fuck! I don’t even swear. She has me swearing, this woman is driving me nuts! … Goodbye! I’m off. Write about that in the New York fucking Post!” she continued, before storming off. Eventually, producers convinced her to return to the set, which she made with seconds to spare.
