During a CNN panel discussion on the Senate health care bill that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell pulled from being voted on this week, CNN political commentator Ana Navarro bemoaned the lack of bipartisanship in Washington these days. And in doing so, Ana ended up sounding like a stand-up comic with a late-night HBO special.
Regarding McConnell’s comments that Democrats won’t be involved in any negotiations to tweak and improve the bill, Navarro slammed the GOP leader.
“The horror of having to work across the aisle — the horror of having to work with Democrats in order to be able to solve what is an issue for so many Americans,” she exclaimed. “That’s exactly what should be done.”
After host Kate Bolduan interjected and said that it was this “mythical thing called bipartisanship,” Navarro pulled out the jokes.
“I’m so old the c-word used to be something entirely different — now it’s compromise,” she said as the rest of the panel cracked up. She added that the bill is like “Jason on Friday the 13th — when you think it’s dead, it comes back to life to haunt your nightmares!”
Fellow panelist Symone Sanders was asked by Bolduan to top that, to which she simply replied, “I can’t.”
